Natural Area Technician

About The Role
Due to continued growth, Southeast Land and Water Management is looking to add a Natural Area Technician to our team. If you have a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces and aquatic systems and if you thrive on top-level customer satisfaction achieved because of your attention to detail, we want to talk with you!

Our ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years experience working as a natural area technician. You will manage the maintenance of lakes and ponds and associated stormwater systems. We’re looking for a team player who can build strong relationships with co-workers and demonstrate an optimistic and energetic attitude.

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance of lakes and ponds and associated stormwater systems
  • Identify and treat invasive vegetation, mow and weed eat sites, conduct minor repairs for compliance, and improve the overall aesthetics of the sites
  • Ensure that all requirements are completed on the job site according to the customer’s contract and expectations
  • Ensure that efficiency and quality levels are tops
  • Drive and maintain a company vehicle, manage your daily schedule, take photos, write reports and, as may be required, assist with training team members with a strong emphasis on proper safety procedures
  • Visual inspections and documentation of pond components
  • Address issues that impact function and/or aesthetics of stormwater devices

Basic Eligibility

  • Must possess Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain license within 30 days of hire (we will help train)
  • Familiarity with the techniques and equipment used in lake and pond management and repairs
  • Willing to work in different types of weather conditions
  • Able to swim
  • Capable of heavy lifting 75 pounds
  • Ability to trailer and operate a skiff and UTV
  • Comfortable with extensive walking
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with a variety of people including clients and other team members
  • Possesses basic math skills for purposes of calculating appropriate levels of product applications
  • Possesses a current driver’s license and good driving record
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and with the team
